1968 Ludwig Drum Set in champagne sparkle.

This is a really clean set of drums with some pretty rare features!

Sizes (depth x diameter)

14x24 Bass Drum
9x13 Rack Tom
18x16 Floor Tom w/legs

First off, it's a 24" bass drum, in the 1960s, which is outstandingly rare. The 24" bass drum didn't really become commonplace until the stadium rock era of the 1970s, when shows became louder and the drums needed to punch more, but needed to be more articulate than the 26"-and-larger bass drums of the swing era. This bass drum has four spurs! One spike has been replaced, but looks the part.

Second, this has a 16" floor tom that is 18" deep. Until we saw this drum, we thought only Sonor had ever dared to make floor toms deeper than the diameter, but the craftsmen at Ludwig in Chicago got there over a decade earlier!

The floor tom has duplicate lug mounting holes for the top lugs, and it appears that these top lugs were moved closer to the batter head. We have no clue why someone would do that, but it doesn't affect the function, and the drum sounds great.

The bass drum and rack tom have maple interiors, where the floor tom has a mahogany interior. In the late 60s, Ludwig were using up the last of their stash of mahogany, so sets with shells that didn't quite 100% match is pretty normal. Please see photos for details of the shells!

Sorry, no tom holder is included with these drums, but the bracket and mount are installed, so you can use a standard Ludwig if you want to.

Bearing edges look to be in overall good shape.
