When people ask us what a modern cymbal sounds like, Meinl are the company we point to fastest. They have led the charge in dark, trashy cymbal sounds, and there are few that exhibit their versatility within that dark-and-trashy sound better than the 20" Sand Ride.
Designed in conjunction with Benny Greb, the Sand Ride pulls from many aspects of cymbal making history, with unlathed portions under the edge and the bell that allow it to have extremely useful ride, crash, and bell tones, that can be played at any time without any one overwhelming the other.
This particular Sand Ride is on the heavier side, and it's one of the more defined examples we've heard. Personally, I think it's one of the best I've played. The extra weight keeps the ride sound defined, and somehow the crash doesn't suffer at all.
Condition is very good. These sandblasted cymbals show fingerprints pretty easily, so this has some of that, but all things considered it's very clean, and obviously has no cracks or keyholing.
This is a good one!
