Mapex Black Panther Deep Forest Walnut Snare Drum

5.5" depth, 14" diameter

Mapex first introduced the Deep Forest series of drums in 2001, initially offering walnut and cherry shells in limited sizes. The first snares offered with the walnut shells were 6.5x14 and 5.5x10, and were made with the wide rectangular badge until 2004, when Mapex started using the taller rectangle Black Panther badge that they use to this day.

The 5.5x14 we see here was first introduced in 2004, and according to the experts at mapexblackpanther.com these should all have the tall rectangular badge, which you can see is not the case, making this a rare bird!

Unfortunately it appears that this drum has spent most of its life tuned very high, and there is some finish cracking between the top and bottom lugs in a couple spots. Still sounds great
