There may have never been a more fitting name for a shell pack of this caliber, than a "Galleon". Anchor Drums is a local drum builder in our neck of the woods here in NC, and we've seen a few of their kits and snares come in the shop over the years. The thing I've noticed with those drums is the consistency in their stunning craftsmanship and design (most of which having an aesthetic choice that's admittedly after my own heart..), and most importantly, sound quality and tonality.
Upon first look, you can pretty much tell the type of player this kit was built for, and it sounds just about as massive as you would expect. Enough power to fill a room in a 3-pc configuration, but with a lot of musical options given the sheer quantity of drums offered. We tuned up and hit just one of the bass drums in the store here while setting it up, and just about every head in the room turned.
There are a few things to note on this shell pack, as it's pre-owned and in great shape, it isn't short of a few battle scars. Those can be harder to spot on a kit of this size, but there are some minor visual imperfections around some of these shells including a bit of rash on the toms and bass drum hoops, slight blemishes on the hardware in spots, and a missing rubber spur tip end.

Along with the 8-pc shell pack shown in this listing, we also received a "matching" (reverse finish) 7x14" snare drum, also dated to 7/31/2014, as well as an 18x18" floor tom that is much lighter in color and has no date stamped inside. According to the seller, that floor tom was made after the original kits production, in order to replace an 18" floor tom that was lost from the original 9-Piece setup, and this one ended up with a slightly different finish in the end, so we've opted to sell it off separately.
