Before it became the Supraphonic in 1963, Ludwig's flagship snare drum was known as the Ludwig Super, and it was made with a chrome-over-brass shell. Of course, Ludwig have now reissued the Super snares, which come with nickel-plated hardware, but they do still offer the classic COB Supraphonic with chrome hardware, and this is one of them!
And what a drum it is!
This drum is super fat and crisp like a good brass snare should be. It stays tidy tuned low, and stays crisp tuned high, and doesn't choke. Like an LM402 on steroids. Check out video demo!
This is a B-Stock drum, meaning that there is a flaw in the plating somewhere. On this drum, the flaw is only aesthetic; there is a flaw in the plating below the butt plate. There's an arrow sticker on the shell pointing toward it. A minor imperfection gets you a substantial discount on a fantastic drum!
