This is a vintage 5x14" Ludwig prototype Acrolite that was more than likely made in 1962. 

From what we can tell, somewhere under 200 of these were made and sent out to different dealers to test before they were officially introduced. They originally had aluminum hoops and lugs, and the shells were textured, rolled, and (somewhat crudely..) welded.

This shell in particular has been drilled out for a Tama throw-off & butt plate, but has been replaced with period-correct hardware. The lugs and internal muffler are original and in fantastic shape for their age!

This is definitely a collector's piece, and a snare you don't see everyday!
